First Aid – Level One
First Aid Level one is a registered course, suitable for persons that may be called upon to render land based assistance in an emergency.
The training is very beneficial to private individuals, as well as employees of companies, as it encourages the correct management and provision of care in an emergency situations.
Candidate Requirements: Minimum age of 16 years
Course Content
- Basic Anatomy and Physiology
- Principles of rendering first aid
- Emergency scene safety and management
- Resuscitation of Adults, children and infants
- Obstructed airway management
- Drowning
- Unconsciousness and fainting
- Bleeding
- Circulatory shock prevention
- Fractures, sprains and dislocations
- Head and spinal injuries
- Burns
- Medical emergencies and conditions
- Bites and stings
Course Duration – 20 hours (3/4 days) per group
Candidate Evaluation
The candidates are evaluated on all aspects of the award on both their practical (70%) and theoretical (30%) knowledge of the subject.
Successful candidates are certified by Lifesaving S.A. Certification is valid for a period of three years from the date of issue.
